A Place to Bury Strangers have created a nice thing here with their self-titled debut. I know I overuse the term throwback, but it feels like this album could have been camouflaged in with the rest of the 80’s shoegazing albums.
Anyways, A Place to Bury Strangers is an uneven album though at times mesmerizing. It could have never led a movement, but it does indeed celebrate the scene. It’s more of a tribute to the scene than anything without pushing the envelope.
There is variety to the album with the constant fuzz bringing everything together. I love the sound. It is definitely worth the listen, and I am sure that anyone with the appreciation will thoroughly enjoy it, but I could not recommend it to someone who exclusively listens to old-fashioned rock or insert other non-shoegazing genre.
